Fasten Your Seatbelts: Flight is Cleared for Takeoff in Adelaide this May!

Get ready to soar, opera lovers and curious first-timers alike—Flight is landing at Her Majesty’s Theatre this Adelaide Festival with State Opera South Australia, and it’s one departure you won’t want to miss!

From 8–10 May 2025, Jonathan Dove’s heartwarming and hilarious opera takes to the stage, bringing with it a terminal full of laughs, touching moments… with just a little turbulence!

Set in an airport during a storm, Flight takes a grounded situation and lets the imagination take wing. With all flights cancelled, an eclectic mix of passengers, crew, and airport staff are stuck in a holding pattern—and that’s when the magic begins. Stories are shared, secrets come to light, and unexpected connections are made, all to the tune of Dove’s irresistibly hummable music.

Think The Marriage of Figaro at 30,000 feet: witty, warm, and wonderfully human. Performed in English, and packed with comedic turbulence, Flight is the perfect boarding gate for opera newcomers, and a first-class experience for seasoned travellers.
